Chris Tucker, Chris Rock Working Out in Vain to Portray Boxers

HOLLYWOOD (DPI) - Encouraged by the financial success and critical acclaim of hit boxing movies Hurricane and Ali, Hollywood insiders are creating several additional films about the lives of great black boxers, yet running out of black actors to portray them.

"To sell tickets for a boxing movie, you've got to have a big-name star. We've already used Denzel and Will Smith, our top black leading men," said Jerry Blaustein, an industry spokesman. "And we've got Wesley Snipes signed up to do Frazier later this year. After that, the casting starts to get tricky. Lucky for us, Will Smith was able to beef up enough to pull off Ali. But Chris Tucker and Chris Rock have been weightlifting their asses off for months to play Mike Tyson and George Foreman, yet each of them still only weighs a buck-fifty soaking wet. Maybe we can get the guy who fattened up Eddie Murphy in The Nutty Professor to come up with some sort of muscular bodysuit for these scrawny guys."

Industry insiders don't fault the lack of good black actors as much as the establishment which limits the public's view to a select few: "It would be great if we could use lesser-known or unknown black actors," said a source who asked not to be named, "but The Man only allows 2-3 black actors to be stars at any one point. As soon as Will Smith got famous, we had to quit using Samuel L. Jackson so much."

As an alternative solution, some studios are snapping up any white actors willing to portray great black boxers. Indie fav Steve Buscemi is currently in production on The Sugar Ray Leonard Story and comedian and TV pitchman Carrot Top is filming Sonny Liston.
