Daily Probe Fashion Exclusive: "Enduring Freedom" Weddings
NEW YORK CITY (DPI) - This spring, the smart, sophisticated American bride is saying "I do!"
while simultaneously saying "Drop dead, scumbag!" to bin Laden as she celebrates the happiest day of
her life with the Enduring Freedom WeddingTM. Brides in the know refuse
to let the war against terrorism get them down, choosing instead to embrace the tragedy and the
new sense of patriotism by working both into a wedding day which, like September 11, no one will soon forget!
Here's a glimpse at what you'll be seeing.
This season it's Red, White & Blue! Don't despair if you are an autumn --
a savvy bride can soften those harsh primary colors by choosing a more
flattering Betsy Ross Rose, Old Glory Ecru and September Twilight Azure.
Be creative -- it's the American way!
For once, choosing the perfect shoes is not a problem! The chic bride
dons standard military-issue boots, which, in addition to making quite a
statement at the ceremony itself, will come in very handy as she
honeymoons either at ground zero in Manhattan or in among the
recently liberated goats and peasants of Afghanistan!
The veil presents an interesting choice - does our bride honor the
fallen heroes with an FDNY-issue helmet and respirator, or go with the more
aggressive and patriotic US Army-issue gas mask? Or, in solidarity with her
oppressed sisters, she could wear a burqa -- just perk it up with this year's colors!
The Stars and Stripes Forever gown is *the* definitive statement - the
crossed ammo belts not only show the bride's patriotism, but lift and
separate as well. Cleavage isn't just coy -- it's American!
Those in the world of haute couture might want to take a peek at
the gorgeous gowns coming from the fashion centers of Milan and Paris. Like
the Armani "Miss Liberty" design above, they are stunning tributes to America.
The grooms don't have to miss out on the fun. Calvin Klein and others
have come out with patriotic tuxes, including the newest accessory "In your
face, Osama!" -- the Old Glory turban!
Last, but not least, the wedding cake! The couples of 2002 are breaking
from tradition by choosing not to employ the traditional bride and groom figurines
atop the cake. Instead, they're using another famous couple -- Osama bin Laden
and his blushing bride!
