Disillusioned Swift Boat Vets Speak Out
WASHINGTON (DPI) - Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry has
been accused by a very vocal group called Swift Boat Veterans for Truth
of various shenanigans regarding how he earned his medals in Viet Nam.
Among those assertions is that Kerry shot himself in his own buttock
in order to win a purple heart. The Daily Probe investigative team has been
interviewing Viet Nam swift boat veterans, asking for their opinions on
the controversy.
Capt. Charles Plumly, USN (retired)
"Going into this, the powers-that-be painted a picture for us that was black
and white. Bush vs. Kerry. Good vs. Evil. 'Your country needs you,' we were
told. That was enough. At first, we really thought what we were doing would
make a difference. Now, it's just all messed up."
Lt. Col. James Zumwalt, USMC (retired)
"Every day, we are getting ambushed, sometimes by those we thought were on
our side. Christ! We don't even know who the enemy is anymore."
Corp. Brady Little, USMC (retired)
"He shot himself in the ass? Well, that's just plain stupid.
Ain't no medal worth not having an ass no more."
Capt. George Elliott, USN (retired)
"This is what happens when you let politicians play war. We don't belong here."
Robert Brant, USN (retired)
"The other day, I held a buddy as he died in my arms. Colon cancer. He was only 63."
Capt. Adrian Lonsdale, USCG (retired)
"Since starting this thing, I've seen things that will haunt me to the end of my days."
Richard O'Mara, USN (retired)
"I don't know how things got so crazy and I really don't care anymore. I just want to go home. "
