Car Salesman Stunned After Customer OKs Undercoating/Paint Protection BEND, Ore. (DPI)- Ned Skruggins has been selling cars at the same local GM dealership for more than 20 years, and he thought he had seen it all. That is, until Tuesday when a customer, Mary Walsh, took the routine task of buying her 2004 Impala and turned Skruggins' world upside down by ordering the undercoating and GoldStar paint-protection package. "No one has ever done this before!" said a still-shaken Skruggins. "I always mention it in my closing. Out of habit I guess. But the customers always turn it down, usually after accusing me of trying to rip them off." Skruggins immediately took the news of the $1,195 upgrade to his manager for advice on what to do next. Walsh drove away that day in one of the dealership's courtesy loaner cars, free of charge. The gesture was necessary as Skruggins and his manager are still waiting to hear back from GM's corporate office to find out just what the hell is involved with undercoating and GoldStar paint protection.
