Wives Sue Hollywood over Failure to Provide Romantic Endings
STOCKTON, Calif. (DPI) - Twenty women who claim they were misled into
marrying "under-achieving losers" are filing suit against eight major film
studios for neglecting to place warning labels on romantic comedies.
"Romantic comedies instruct that to find the man of your dreams, you have
to be engaged to a loser who is completely wrong for you," said 31-year-old
claimant Lisa Cannon. "Then at some point before you wed,he comes by and
rescues you." Cannon claims that in an effort to find the
best "Mr. Right," she sought out the largest loser she could find, but was
never saved. And now that her trailer has been repossessed, she finds
herself homeless with eight children and a gambling husband. "We refuse to
believe Hollywood would have the nerve to hack out the exact same plot
device in the last 785 of the last
787 romantic films," said Cannon's attorney, John Patterson. "Clearly, they
were trying to confuse our clients into
believing this was reality."
