Gore Comeback Tour Sells Out Meadowlands in 4 Minutes
Newark, N.J. (DPI) - Former Vice President Al Gore's comeback tour is storming
arenas around the country, selling out faster than the legendary 1962
Nixon farewell Tour. Gore's touring the nation, promoting his new book
on families, his likely presidential run and a new album of Bob Dylan
covers. Janet Reno's Dance Party opened the show.
Adding to ticket sales are all the parents, who fondly remember Gore's
original 1992 comeback tour, bringing their children to see him. "Come on,
can't we all remember where we were when we watched Gore give his '92
convention speech?" said Mary Walters, 57. "It inspired a generation, and
now I can share the magic that is Al Gore with my kids."
Fans were a little disappointed when Gore tried out a new health-care
policy. "I came here to see his classic hits -- the NAFTA
debate, the lock-box -- not new material," said Walters. Gore closed his
second encore
with a rousing reading from the Kyoto Treaty and urged the audience to
check out the Sierra Club brochures in the lobby.
