Cartoonists Struggle With Recent Events
(A Daily Probe Special Report)
NEW YORK, NY (DPI) - Cartoonists in the United States have struggled in recent
weeks to find the relevance of their material in light of the horrific events
of September 11 and the military attacks that followed. Most are attempting
to incorporate at least some current events into their comic strips, with varying
results. For comics such as Doonesbury, which has always relied heavily
on politics and social criticism, it's business as usual. For others less
accustomed to such weighty issues, the results have been, well, rather bizarre.
Here are but a few examples:
Cathy
Blondie
Garfield
Marmaduke

Ziggy

Peanuts
Broom Hilda
Goofus and Gallant
Dilbert
