TRAVAMABAD (DPI) - Travistan's citizens remained under lockdown as martial law was in effect for a third night after the Travistani Democratic Alliance seized control of the tenuous apartment-nation for the first time since its founding last year. Taking advantage of a weakened president who is woozy from painkillers after orthopedic surgery last Thursday, the Travistani opposition party staged a coup of the tiny nation, placing dissident leader Mrs. Travis in charge.

Mrs. Travis' supporter base was able to dislodge the interim Doggie administration and install its own regime by carefully moving the temporary leader's dinner bowl to the balcony, allowing opposition forces to stage a bloodless coup of Travamabad's key conversation nook district, say military analysts. The exiled President Travis is said to be in good health, recovering from a moped accident during an ill-advised turn during a presidential motorcade procession.
